‘British Bomb & Rocket Pistols and Fuzes 1914-2007’is a reference guide covering every UK-designed and produced bomb and rocket pistol and fuze which has entered service with the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy or which has been supplied to foreign users of British airborne weapons, from the earliest types introduced in World War 1 up to the present day

The book is primarily intended for use by those engaged in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operations, but will also be of interest to those connected with the field of airborne weapons, to historians and researchers and to those who have a general interest in the subject.

The book is available in an A4 loose-leaf binder or as a CD-ROM, and contains more than 570 pages of text and over 250 mono-chrome and colour illustrations. Details of more than 100 models of bomb, depth charge and rocket pistols and fuzes, and their derivatives are included plus information the development of British bomb pistols and fuzes, how they operate, their usage, their associated detonators, those designs which were cancelled or abandoned before fully entering service, and a review of various disposal methods for unexploded ordnance.

The book is divided into the following sections:

1    An introduction to British airborne pistols and fuzes, covering principles of gravity-dropped weapon fuzing, arming sequences, functioning, safety devices, development history and other related information

2    Bomb Pistols - covering 49 main types and their derivatives

3    Bomb Fuzes - covering 42 main types and their derivatives

4    Rocket Fuzes - covering 12 main types and their derivatives

plus extensive and comprehensive Appendices covering Pistol and Fuze usage by weapon, Detonators, abandoned or cancelled projects and an overview of ordnance disposal methods.

The sections on Pistols and Fuzes are divided into a number of chapters, each chapter covering a particular model and its immediate derivatives. These chapters contain details of where the item is used, its approximate dimensions, and its appearance when in an armed condition, its construction and operation, and the differences between variants of the same model, together with sectional diagrams and colour photographs as appropriate.
